Dear OUTWORDS community,

I’m proud to announce that OUTWORDS is hosting a truly exciting, thought-provoking, and inspiring online event tomorrow, Wednesday June 17, at 5pm PT / 8pm ET. It’s called Return to Resistance: Pride, Intersectionality, and Racial Justice in 2020.

We’ve put together a panel of four extraordinary OUTWORDS interviews from around the country, including transgender pioneer Miss Major Griffin-Gracy; community mental health activist Marianne Diaz; HIV/AIDS educator Michael Hickerson; and longtime Minnesota state representative Karen Clark, who lives just 10 blocks from where George Floyd was killed by the police. The panel will be moderated by grassroots organizer and digital strategist Andrea Pino-
Silva, an OUTWORDS board member.

Gathering together as a Pride community rooted in decades of activism, we’ll watch clips from each panelist’s OUTWORDS interview, talk about the meaning of Pride against America’s ongoing quest for racial justice, celebrate Monday’s Supreme Court decision extending protections to LGBTQ+ workers across America, and ask: How do we reclaim our community’s activist origins, and use them in the best way possible moving forward?

I hope you’ll join us for an evening of inspiration, joy, humility, and hope. Click here to register, and please share the word!

In respect and solidarity,
Mason Funk,
Executive Director, OUTWORDS
